Keyword Research
This is a basic keyword research guide.
The first thing you must do is search for the keywords that are related to your business. Having a list of keywords that are being searched for means that you are more likely to be found in the search engines.
If you try and guess, or use keywords that you think people search for you could hit a brick wall, everyone is different and by doing the correst research irons out the use for keywords that are never being searched for.
Also what is the point being sat on page one of Google for a keyword that no one searches for.
A great free tool to start with is Google keyword tool. Just type a word in that is related to your business like “cameras” or if you provide a local service type in “plumber salisbury”.
Google will return a list of keywords, but remember the higher the keyword is being searched for then the more likely competition for this keyword will be increased.
Type in as many related keywords to your business as possible until you have a huge list to base your website on. You may find it easier to extract the keyword results into excell.
If you want to deepen your research then type each keyword into google’s search bar and record how many results appear, this is stated near the top of google on the right hand side.
Without going to deep into it as this is a basic guide anything over 1 million results is going to be difficult, especially for a beginner.
